Dylon Hand Dye Sunflower Yellow 05 is a 50g powder fabric dye designed for hand dyeing suitable clothing, accessories, household textiles and craft projects. The bright Sunflower Yellow shade adds vibrant colour to suitable fabrics and can be used to refresh faded textiles or create new colour effects.

The hand-dye format is suitable for smaller items such as shorts, vests, socks and accessories, as well as delicate fabrics that may not be suitable for washing-machine dyeing.

The dye is suitable for natural fibres including cotton, linen and viscose. Wool and silk can also be dyed using the hand-dye process. Polyester/cotton and polyester/viscose blends may produce lighter shades, while pure polyester, acrylic and nylon are not suitable for dyeing.

One 50g sachet is designed to dye approximately 250g of fabric to a full shade. Larger quantities can be dyed to progressively lighter shades. Approximately 250g of salt is required during the dyeing process.

For use, weigh the dry fabric and wash it thoroughly, leaving it damp. Dissolve the dye in approximately 500ml of warm water. Prepare approximately 6 litres of warm water at 40°C, add 250g of salt and mix in the dissolved dye. Submerge the fabric completely and stir for the first 15 minutes, followed by regular stirring for approximately 45 minutes.

After dyeing, rinse the fabric in cold water until the water runs clear, then wash in warm water and dry away from direct heat and sunlight.

The final colour depends on the original fabric colour, fibre composition and quantity of material being dyed.
